This is a new element to the way yLead can add value to your leadership role, we encourage you to explore the content and share with your school, empowering present and future student leaders.

ACTIVITIES FOR THE CLASSROOM

  • Recharge!

    As leadership teams, we are constantly busy trying to juggle the role with studies, extra curricular activities, and a social life. Sometimes we can move through the year at this fast pace without taking time to reflect on everything we’ve done. This lesson plan can be used at any time of the year, and is a useful way for students or leadership teams to reflect on lessons and highlights from the previous term (e.g. Term 1), as well as refocusing and recharging for what’s to come. This reflection can be done in small or large groups, allowing not only individual thoughts, but an opportunity to learn and grow from others’ experiences as well. It can be adapted to include physical activity, or just worksheet reflection.

  • Connection Cards

    yLeadConnection Cards are perfect for building a closer knit team and uniting a small group.The game allows students to share a little about themselves in a fun and supportive environment. The activity is ideally used in classroom sized groups (15-25pax) where honesty and appreciation is a necessity, for example; home rooms, tutor groups, form classes, leadership teams. This activity can be used to help students get a better understanding of their fellow classmates and /or team; building a strong, supportive and open group of young people.Connection Cards is an adaptation of a non-competitive learning/communication board game created by Rhea Zakich. It is a game of conversation which ‘fosters listening skills as well as self-expression’.

  • Wheel of Life

    The Wheel of Life is a great tool that helps students to recognise the many areas of their life that contribute to their personal wellbeing. It is a fantastic exercise to complete when setting new goals, in times of reflection, or discovering new areas of focus. It is a self assessment tool that is widely used in personal coaching for personal success and working towards a more life balance. yLead has adapted the sections of the Wheel of Life to specifically accommodate students of a wide range of ages across secondary school.
