Fast Four | James Peterson: breakingFree Founder & mental health advocate

By June 26, 2018Event

James Peterson is a fierce believer that we all get to be the authors of our own story. James founded breakingFree in 2013 when he was just 18 years old, in memory of his father who was affected by mental illness. breakingFree helps to educate and encourage people to live mentally healthy lifestyles and to not be afraid to seek help.

“We are putting mental health first”

James joined the Altitude Day roadshow in his home town, the Gold Coast, to share with the students, “When making important decisions ask yourself… ‘what would make my life story the HAPPIEST and MOST FULFILLING?'”

This is what James had to share when we asked him our Fast Four questions!

What are you most passionate about?

Getting people to lead more mentally healthy and happy lives.

What action are you taking to influence change in that area?

Running a mental health charity, called breakingFree, which runs mental health programs in schools educating and encouraging students to lead more mentally healthy lifestyles.

What is the greatest lesson you have learnt on your journey so far?

There is always a way, you just have to find it.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

Be patient.
