Name: Jessica Peachey
Age: 22
School & grad year: St John Fisher College, graduated 2014
yLead involvement: Altitude Day Brisbane 2019 was my first day volunteering with yLead. I’ve now been involved with a number of In School programs in Toowoomba.
A: Hey Jess! Congrats on being our yTeam Superstar for September. For a lot of our community you will be a fresh face. Tell us about how you found out about yLead and why you wanted to get involved.
J: Originally yLead came to Fisher back in 2010 or 2014 and it was a really great experience. I remember saying to my friends that I wanted to do that all day, everyday. Years later, I’m studying my Masters of Social Work and wanted to get more volunteer experience, particularly in schools because that’s where I want to work. I remembered yLead and from there it was just emailing the team and here we are!
A: Outside of yTeaming, what things do you currently fill your time with?
J: Lots of Netflix and Youtube. Also lately I’m trying to learn rap songs on my pink ukuele.
A: For all those that haven’t met you yet, describe yourself in 3 words.
J: Caring, passionate and curious.
A: What’s a lesson you’ve learnt or something you’ve been thinking about this month?
J: It’s okay to make mistakes, everyone is human, just try to learn from it and keep going.
A: We’re getting closer to the end of the year… if there’s one thing you MUST do by the end of 2019, what is it??
J: GRADUATE!! I’ll be a qualified social worker next year!
