Here at yLead we have been so humbled to see the generous financial contributions from our community all over the world. You can check out our ‘Keep the Door Open’ campaign here!
We’re aware that no one is immune to the impact that COVID-19 is having on our society, and you may want to help but not be in the financial position to do so. There has been an influx of comments and messages asking what else people can do to support yLead and fundraising ideas that can be mutually beneficial through these challenging times.
So, we brainstormed and created a list…
Introducing our…
TOP SEVEN TIPS AND TRICKS TO KEEP THE YLEAD DOOR OPEN!
1. BE BRAVE & SELL YOUR TALENT
If you can draw, paint, sing, or have special talents that others could purchase, be brave and get it out there! Think about selling some of your art to people that need gifts for upcoming birthdays, or perhaps create a song and record it especially for them. We know you have talent and in this giving time people will want to support you.
Here is a drawing one of the yLead staff, Mitch, drew for our St Jude’s fundraiser in 2019 – it got such an amazing response and people loved the idea!
2. RUN AN ONLINE WORKSHOP
Are you a PT? Can you dance? Do you love yoga? What if you asked for an open donation to an event you hold online! This way you are keeping fit both mentally and physically whilst working out with the people you love. You could even host a FaceTime dance party if you are a budding DJ.
3. USE YOUR SKILLS TO HELP OTHERS
We have so many future educators in our community – host an online tutoring session! School may start to look different for our world and we don’t want people to fall behind, so reach out to those who may need an extra hand.
4. USE YOUR NETWORK
Sometimes it’s hard to ask for help, but we’re all about leaning into our courage. Call someone from within your network to inform them of what’s happening to yLead. Maybe you have friends in the corporate sector who you could message on LinkedIn. You could write a letter to someone you think is in a position to support us. Connections are so important, together we are stronger. Share your story with them and why they should care. Make sure you mention what they could receive as a result of their donation too… we want to help others when they help us.
5. CONNECTION THROUGH COURAGE
Keep the yLead door open by keeping your door open. Open to conversation, connection and community. Make sure to check in with your friends and family. We’ve been using Facebook messenger & Microsoft Teams!
We know it can be tough. In uncertain times like these being vulnerable and open to having conversations can be tricky waters to navigate. Reach out to a friend and ask them for three gratitudes from today. Or tonight at dinner ask an open-ended question. We’ve created these connection cards to help start the convo – click here! It’s through conversations that our compassion and understanding builds.
6. SHARE OUR STORY, SHARE YOUR STORY.
Our community has rallied, now it’s time to keep spreading the yLead message and show people how impactful a yLead experience is. Your biggest weapon is your voice, SO USE IT! We have loved watching your videos and reading your posts about the impact yLead has had on your life and the way that yLead has opened a door for you.
Create your own ‘yLead Door Opening’ story and share it to your socials – check out team member Zoe’s video here for some inspo.
7. HELP US SHOOT FOR THE MOON – $50,000
Firstly, we have nothing but gratitude and love for everyone that has supported us so far. It means the world to us to hear your stories and read your support. We are in this together, fighting for yLead side by side.
Now it’s time to keep the momentum going. Give someone you know a call, set yourself a challenge, ask two people to donate. We’re off to a great start but we still have a long way to go… let’s ramp it up and ask big!
Please make sure that when you donate, if you can donate, to make a comment on the Chuffed crowdfunding page so that we can send you our gratitude (we promise there’s mounds of it!)
